EILEEN Proctor proves that you can be realistic about business as well as having a deeply spiritual outlook on life.
She has combined both characteristics in a ground-breaking catering enterprise called Oddverse Catering, which includes a cafe in Charles Street, Newport.
Along with healthy food, she sells books on subjects such as self-awareness, alternative medicine and holistic approaches to well-being.
If you begin reading a book while enjoying a meal and coffee at the cafe and return with it on another visit, she will allow a refund of 30 per cent towards the purchase of a second book.
Eileen believes that there is no other business like it in Newport, though elsewhere the number of cafes offering totally different merchandise as well as drinks and snacks is increasing.
The cafe is a "labour of love" and her core business is corporate catering. She has owned several businesses, her previous being Bon Appetit in Charles Street.
"I have always had a thirst for spiritual things and well-being," she said. "And I know there are lots of people of that ilk.
