POLICE searching for the body of missing teenager Jenna Baldwin (pictured) believe a missing shovel may be significant to their inquiry.
They have issued pictures of a replica of the Bulldog-branded shovel in the hope it will advance their investigation.
Officers are appealing to members of the public who may have seen or found the tool or been given a similar type of shovel since the beginning of September, to come forward.
Chief Inspector John Oliver, who is leading the investigation, said: "It is a distinctive model - all steel, painted with a green Hammerite-type paint, with a tapered mouth."
Jenna's family and detectives are convinced the 15-year-old is dead, and officers have charged her step-father, Michael Baldwin, of Limekiln Road, Pontnew-ynydd, with her murder.
But despite intensive searches Jenna has still not been found.
Jenna went missing from her Abersychan home in September, and since then her family has moved to Limekiln Road.
The searches have covered mountainside between Blaenavon and Abersychan. And over the weekend the searches will continue in the Cwmavon Reservoir and Blaenavon, as well as at the waste tips near Blaenavon.
Yesterday 36-year-old Michael Baldwin, a poultry factory worker, appeared at Cardiff crown court. He was remanded in custody until December 20.
No application for bail was made.
Anyone with information about Jenna's disappearance, particularly if they saw her with her stepfather between September 4 and 10, should call the incident room on 01495 232260.
