THE family of a 14-year-old Brynmawr girl missing for four days say they are desperately concerned for her safety.

Victoria Challenger, pictured, left her home in Bailey Street at 5pm on Monday and was later seen at 10pm that evening.

Police said yesterday there had been two sightings of the Brynmawr Comprehensive School pupil - one in Ebbw Vale and one in Brynmawr - on Wednesday.

Now her worried parents, Michael and Sian, are urging Victoria, known as Vicky, to get in touch.

Mr Challenger told the Argus: "It has been very frightening - you hear all the news about other children going missing.

"We have no idea at all where she has gone. We are all panicking and her sisters are crying."

He added that Vicky, a popular girl, with lots of friends, had not done anything like this before.

"She is never in trouble, she is very good. Sometimes she goes to friends to stay for the weekend but we don't mind that as long as she lets us know.

"We just want her to come home or to contact us, my sister, or a friend just to let us know how she is."

Vicky, who is described as sports-mad and plays netball, rugby and football, has three sisters, Michelle, Gemma and Aneka, who are also extremely worried about her.

And Vicky's aunt, Gail Marks, added: "She just came in on Monday from school, had some food and went out again. We are getting very anxious about her now."

Sergeant Richard Evans, of Brynmawr police, said they were very concerned about Vicky as she is only 14.

Police say they have already contacted some of her friends and are now also trying to contact a man called Darren Woods, also known as Rufus, whom she was reportedly seen with on Wednesday. Sgt Evans urged Vicky to get in touch with the police or her family.
