WALES coach Steve Hansen has made six changes in his line-up to face Fiji at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday - but he has known his team to face the All Blacks on November 23 all along.

Stephen Jones, Iestyn Thomas, Gareth Llewellyn, Dafydd Jones (a new cap) and Martyn Williams all step in while skipper Colin Charvis switches to No 8.

But though there is a game to be played on Saturday and another a week later against Canada, it will take something major to happen to influence Hansen when it comes to the big one.

"I've had the team in mind to face New Zealand for some time," he admitted.

"The performance will be critical and people can make me more flexible in the way I am thinking.

"The key thing is if we have got 28-30 players who have raised their level of performance. If that has coincided with a victory we will be in a much better position."

Explaining his reason for switching Charvisr, Hansen said: "I was happy with his performance at seven, but Martyn Williams is an out-and-out openside and it is important we look at our combinations."

* The WRU management board yesterday again discussed the structure for next season but no decisions were reached.

Newport benefactor Tony Brown believes the future can go only one way - provincial.

"The future of the Welsh game is in the hands of the clubs, nearly 240 of them," he said. "You tell me which way they will vote. Newport have one vote, the same as anyone else."
