FORMER Miss Wales winner and Miss World contestant Sophia Cahill has been arrested after allegedly attacking a woman with a bottle in a Gwent bar.
Ms Cahill, aged 19, was arrested after she allegedly attacked a woman in her twenties in Jimmy Dean's pub in Chepstow town centre at about 10.30pm on Saturday night.
Gwent Police confirmed that Ms Cahill had been arrested in relation to the alleged attack and charged under her married name of Sophia Williams with the offence of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Ms Cahill, originally from New Inn, in Pontypool, was crowned Miss Wales in 2000 and competed in the 2001 finals of Miss World, in the Maldives.
She now lives in the Beachley area of Chepstow with her British Army corporal husband, and in May the couple celebrated the birth of their son.
In June Ms Cahill told the Argus she had been approached by men's lifestyle magazine GQ for a photo shoot, and was hoping to pursue a career in glamour modelling. Last night she declined to comment on the incident.
Ms Cahill is due to appear before Chepstow magistrates court next Tuesday. Gwent Police have asked witnesses to the alleged attack to contact them on 01633 838111.
