A veterinary practice in Caldicot has been rejuvenated to meet the demands of animal welfare in the town.

Vet Jane Glover-Hill, 28, of Chepstow's Veterinary Health Centre said the facility at 81 Newport Road, Caldicot, would help animal owners get help for their pets without having to travel to Chepstow.

Mrs Glover-Hill said: "Up until the rejuvenation it just had a small consulting room and waiting room but we found we were getting a lot of clients from the area and thought is was a long way for them to come to Chepstow for help.

"The fact that the previous tenants of the flat upstairs vacated the property recently allow-ed more space to hold surgeries.

"At the moment we have on average 15 appointments each day.

"The surgical cases are low as we only recently started operations. Chepstow has five or six a day.

"That's what we are hoping will occur down here. If there is enough demand we will expand the service further."

Mrs Glover-Hill said at present routine operations were planned for Wednesday and Thursdays although the centre is open for consultations each week day between 2.15pm and 3.15pm and 5pm to 6.30pm.
