A TORFAEN teenager is planning to follow in his sister's footsteps but he's going to have to be light on his feet!

Daniel Darby's older sister Lisa Darby, 21, is a Latin American dancer who two years ago won the British National Under-21 championship.

Her younger brother decided to take up dancing after watching her victory and this month will enter the same competition.

Daniel, aged 17, of Wernfach Court, Cwmbran, is Welsh Latin American dancing champion, and with partner Bethan Ryland has won the North-West Masters Under-21 title.

He said: "I took up dancing about two years ago. My sister was the British Champion and I went to watch her in a competition in Blackpool.

"The atmosphere was really good and I just fancied giving it a go. We've got Blackpool coming up on November 20 which is the British Championship, so that's very big. "It's my first time at a competition of this calibre so I'm just going to go and see what happens.

"We're entered in the British National Under-21 category, which my sister won about two years ago.

"I think she's a bit worried that I might catch her up, actually - on the quiet, of course. "But I am looking for sponsorship because for each of these major competitions you need new outfits and the shoes wear out very quickly."

Daniel's mum Peggy added: "I used to dance then I was young but not on their level. "I was very happy that they took it up and I'm very proud of them both but it does cost an awful lot of money.
