ENGLAND were forced to settle for a draw in their warm-up match with Western Australia at the WACA today despite Glamorgan fast bowler Simon Jones' maiden five-wicket haul putting them in sight of an unexpected victory.
Jones claimed four for 33 during a 10-over spell either side of tea to dismiss WA for 248 and leave England chasing 135 for victory from 20 overs.
Marcus Trescothick and Robert Key got the tourists off to a flying start with a half-century partnership in the first nine overs and they failed by just five runs to claim victory, reaching 130-5 at the close.
Jones removed Mike Hussey in the fifth over of the morning before being brought on in mid-afternoon and striking in his first over to end Rogers' impressive innings of 86.
Four overs later Jones struck again to remove Brad Hogg, expertly caught low down at first slip by Trescothick and in the last over before tea he trapped Matt Nicholson leg before.
And after tea he had Campbell caught to complete his impressive haul.
Craig White had earlier ended Justin Langer's impressive innings of 68.
