Judging by the number of times Nameless, pictured, have played here and occupied plum support slots below touring bands they are one of Newport's favourite bands.

Currently on Penarth's record label Petrified, the gang of five has released one dose its lacerating goth punk titled The Salt Flats. "It's magnificent," says the band's barebacked, kilt -swinging singer Al (pictured), and he's not wrong. It's like Nosferatu (the movie not the appalling band) speeded up and shown with accompanying strobe.

The band play from their heart, which is blackened but possessed of some supernatural life. Recent gigs include an evening in the castle grounds of Llantwit Major College. And they were named Band of the Week by www.totalrock.com which involved an interview in London.

Adam Walton invited them back to record a second session for his Sunday night show on BBC Wales, The Mystery Tour. Now Nameless are working towards their first album but have a couple more singles to come out before that.

Tonight they play with Noquenda, Mombomb, Venus Elixir and Comic Book Heroes. Headliners Noquenda are from Bridgend and play mostly Nu Metal. Mombomb and Comic Book Heroes are dependable Newport metal bands.

* The gig is at the Toll House, Bridgend, tonight, October 25. For more information email incidentmusic@hotmail.com
