A NEWPORT charity shop is celebrating six years of fundraising success.
The Ty Hafan charity shop in Maindee has raked in thousands of pounds in funds for the Ty Hafan hospice for terminally ill children in Sully, near Penarth.
As well as caring for children with terminal illnesses, the hospice also provides a valuable respite service for parents.
Deputy manager of the shop Sue Thorpe said: "We had a great time celebrating our birthday.
"The staff dressed as babies and we laid on food and champagne for all our helpers and customers.
"The hospice does great work and it has been really rewarding being able to support them.
"We rely totally on donations, and the people of Maindee have been very generous."
Over the years the shop has received all kinds of contributions.
Ms Thorpe said: "We get a lot of the kinds of things you would expect, but now and again we get a real curiosity.
"I think the strangest donation has to be the false leg. Needless to say, it took a long time to sell."
