JOE CALZAGHE could get it on with Roy Jones Jnr next year - in Cardiff!
The American light-heavyweight king has said he is 'coming to get' the Newbridge star in 2003 - and reckons he does not mind it happening in Wales.
That is music to the ears of Calzaghe who is desperate to go glove-to-glove with Jones Jnr and has revealed a fight with Bernard Hopkins is now on, once again in Wales and possibly in November.
And his trainer and father, Enzo, pictured, reckons the Jones Jnr fight will be a massive occasion, maybe in Cardiff.
This is, of course, the very beginning of the process that could see the long-awaited contest take place and Calzaghe snr said: "Hopefully they get it on - but it's only talk at the moment.
He added: "I've heard this for the last two years and we take it at face value which is what we are doing now.
"But we would love to have a mega fight like this in Wales. This wouldn't just be a great fight, it would be absolutely mega.
"I think Joe has done everything he can do now. The ultimate fight is what he's been waiting for - and this is it! That is the aim when you reach the level that Joe's at."
But Enzo reckons that, unless the crowds turn out in force to support Joe's next contest when he tackles WBO ranked number three Miguel Jimenez on August 17 at Cardiff Castle, then it would prove tough to entice Jones to the Welsh capital next year.
He added: "I don't think you are going to have a higher profile fight anywhere in the world than Joe against Roy Jones - and you wouldn't have a better place to have it than in Wales.
"If it went to Las Vegas , then you wouldn't get the crowds. But if it was in Cardiff, then the Millennium Stadium would be three-quarters full with 30,000 people. Fans would come from everywhere to Scotland to watch this."
And Jones Jnr has no problems with having it over this side of the pond. He is reported as saying yesterday: "I'm willing to go down to super middleweight to fight him and I'll even go to Britain."
