CAERLEON'S Michael Wixey narrowly missed out on his second bronze medal of the games in the men's trap singles event yesterday.
The Welshman had already claimed a bronze medal from the men's trap pairs with partner James Birkett-Evans - and was among the favourites to secure a medal.
But Wixey finished fourth with a final total of 140, eight points behind eventual winner and defending champion Australia's Michael Diamond.
"I'm quite disappointed," said Wixey. "I thought I had a good chance of a medal, but it just didn't happen for me."
Diamond's fellow countrymen Adam Vella came second with 146 and India's Anwer Sultan was a surprise third with 142.
"I was quite nervous throughout my round," admitted Diamond. "Missing a target quite early on put the pressure up a fraction and from then on I just had to put 100 percent into it and hang on.
"Keeping the aggressiveness up was key because there were some difficult targets."
