RISCA's Jamie Baulch and a fit again Iwan Thomas helped Wales cruise into tonight's final of the men's 4x400m relay.
Baulch, (pictured) who decided to run despite being injured, tore around the City of Manchester Stadium last night to set up his side's second place finish.
Matthew Elias then continued the good work, bringing the baton across the line in a time of 3minutes 04.18secs just behind Mark Hylton of England.
Wales' charge for second though was set up by a resurgent Iwan Thomas who moved up from fourth to first in under 100 yards.
In fact Thomas' display will have left several athletes grateful that he didn't choose to defend his 400m title.
"That's the best run I've had in a long time,' said Thomas. "I went out there relaxed and the difference showed. I haven't enjoyed my running for a long time, but I enjoyed it out their today, we all did.
"I need to remember why I do this sport, it's because I love it, something I forgot but have found again."
Baulch too admitted he'd thoroughly enjoyed his run and thanked the doctors for getting him back on track.
"I've had some really intensive treatment, with the Welsh and British boys looking after me which is the only reason I was able to get out there."
This evening Wales will line-up in the final among the favourites for a medal, and Thomas believes the side can do it.
"Tonight, we'll come out and just enjoy it," he said. "We'll go for it, although it'll be harder for us than for them (England), becuase of the size of the squad.
"It'll be us four (Baulch, Thomas, Elias and Tim Benjamin) again but they can make changes, so we'll just have to see how it goes."
