THE Welsh Proms opened yon Thursday - and classical music lovers have a week of summer entertainment still to come. Tonight's Oscar Winners Prom features the Hall, but don't expect tears - this isn't weepy Oscar winner Halle Berry but Manchester's Hall Orchestra performing themes from award-winning movies.
Next Thursday is the Jazz Prom, featuring John Williams and his band with a Tribute to Duke Ellington, and a week today acclaimed pianist John Lill and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra play music from Brahms and Tchaikovsky in the Romantic Prom.
There's also the Children's Prom at 11am tomorrow morning and the European Choral Prom in the evening, the World Music Prom on Monday, the Best of British Prom on Tuesday and the Opera Prom on Wednesday.
And the ever-popular Last Night of the Welsh Proms finishes events with a bang on Saturday July 27, with too many favourites to list.
All concerts are at St David's Hall. Unless otherwise noted all shows start at 7.30pm, and tickets begin at £5 to stand and £8.50 to £23.50 for seats. Box office 02920 878444.
