CALDICOT Castle are now desperately seeking a new manager after John Sharratt resigned.
The Gwent County Third Division side announced that player-manager Sharratt had been forced to quit due to extra work commitments - and the club immediately issued a plea for a new leader.
Sharratt also resigned from his post as chairman of the club's committee - that vacancy has been filled by vice-chairman Chris Adams while committee member Tim Brown moves up to the vice-chairman role.
Sharratt has played for the Castle, promoted from the East Gwent League two years ago, for more than a decade and help ensured the club could meet the criteria to gain Gwent County League status.
Meanwhile, Jason Cave was named manager's and players' player of last season at their annual awards presentation.
The 23-year-old former Caldicot Town midfielder helped Castle secure a mid-table finish last term.
And the Castle announced they will clash with Dr Martens Western League side Cinderford Town in a pre-season friendly next Tuesday. The showdown at Cinderford's Causeway ground will kick-off at 7.30pm.
The Castle, who are currently seeking sponsorship for the up-and-coming campaign, are back training every Thursday at 7pm.
Any potential managerial candidates should contact secretary Karen Sharratt on 01291 420938.
