A TEENAGE boy is in a critical condition with head injuries after being in collision with a bus.
The youngster, who has not been named but was said locally to be aged 15, was in collision with the single-decker Stagecoach bus as he crossed Abercarn High Street.
The accident happened at around 2.30pm, close to Abercarn library, and left the 53-seater bus with a smashed windscreen and damaged windscreen wiper.
It had been heading towards Blackwood at the time on a normal service route.
South Wales Ambulance Service confirmed they had taken a male patient to hospital with injuries.
This morning a Gwent Police spokesman said the boy was was in a critical but stable condition.
Police are still investigating the accident and appealed for witnesses to contact their traffic department on 01633 838111.
