The Milford Haven brothers held in a Portuguese jail for three years on drug smuggling charges have lost their appeal against the conviction. Andrew and Graham Stow were arrested on suspicion of smuggling £3 million worth of cannabis into Portugal by towing it behind their boat. Last June, they were found guilty and sentenced to 12 years in jail.
The trial was later quashed due to concerns about the translation service provided. There were also allegations that crucial reports from marine experts were not admitted as evidence. Two of the original three judges were selected to hear the retrial - a move which has concerned Fair Trials Abroad.
The brothers father, Dilwyn Stow, had expected the second guilty verdict and has already decided to appeal to a higher court. Mr Stow, who has always maintained his sons innocence, had flown out to Portugal to hear the result of the retrial.
