Park Golf Club, Coedkernew.

WHETHER you are a low-handicap golfer or have no interest in the royal and ancient game, there's plenty on offer at Park Golf Club.

Like most golf clubs across the country, the clubhouse has a restaurant, primarily to cater, but not exclusively, for its members and there is plenty of fare and choice for diners.

The menu is predominantly carvery, but there were other tasty alternatives, including chicken tikka and salmon, all with excellent service.

Even though the barman doubled as the waiter, the standard of service was excellent and allowed for golfers to dine quickly to allow them to tackle the next round, while diners ate at a more leisurely pace.

We had the salmon and beef, both of which were plentiful and tasty, the starters were skipped, but there was a wide selection, which is regularly updated.

For dessert, we shared a delicious chocolate cake and ice cream, which finished off the meal nicely.

At £21 for two it was a bargain with three rounds of drinks, and if you are fancying a smart meal without a smart bill, a good choice would be to drop in to the golf club tucked onto the back of Coedkernew.
