COLIN Addison was appointed Tim Harris' right-hand man at Newport County last night and insisted: "I want to be totally involved in everything."

The 62-year-old former manager of Swansea City, Celta Vigo, Derby County, Athltico Madrid was invited personally by Exiles chief Harris to be his assistant and yesterday Addison agreed a one-year deal, replacing Jason Perry who was sacked back in March. There was a lot of discussion about Addison's official title but he said: "Titles don't bother me.

"There is only one manager and I recognise that but I want to be totally involved in everything.

"I know I've got a part to my play and I will use my knowledge, experience and contacts in the game to help Newport County Football Club."

Addison revealed he snubbed advances from Nationwide Football League and Spanish clubs to join his old pal Harris at Newport Stadium but he stayed tight-lipped about those offers.

Hereford-based Addison, whose managerial career spans 30 years, added: "At this stage of my life, this move is right for me.

"I've done a lot of travelling over the years and this is a challenge I can't resist." Addison was a fans favourite in his previous two spells managing the former Newport County between 1978-79 and 1982-85 before they were wound-up in 1989.

Harris said: "Colin's experience can help me fulfil the dreams and desires of everyone involved with Newport County and get into the Conference. There are so many attributes Colin can bring to Newport County. He has a wealth of experience, he's very passionate, has great enthusiasm and has an extensive knowledge."
