YOU'RE never too old to learn - that's the message from a group of Gwent pensioners. For the tenants at Charter Housing's sheltered house in Pantycelyn, Newport, who are all in their 70s and 80s, aren't letting the wonders of modern technology pass them by.
It's all thanks to their new computer suite, now known as the Cyber Lounge, pictured.
Having completed a 12-week computer and Internet training course at Ringland and Bettws libraries, the tenants are ready to enjoy the new equipment.
Mary Stewart, 82, said: "Just because you're in your 80s doesn't mean you're past it. We gave it a go and with the training and support we got the confidence to surf the net and we haven't looked back."
The residents have already used the Internet to set up their own web site, trace old school friends and communicate with their families.
The Cyber Lounge, a joint initiative between Charter Housing, NTL and the National Lottery, was today due to be opened by Rosemary Butler, AM for Newport West.
