TONY Willcox is gunning for his first League Cup win with Cwmbran Town as the Crows look to end a rollercoaster season on a high.
The Town boss reckons current League Cup holders Caersws have been the team of the season as the mid-Wales side have clinched an Intertoto Cup spot by finishing fourth in the League of Wales on a tight budget.
"People underestimate Caersws," said Willcox (pictured). "But I do not. For me they are the team of the season.
"They have had a remarkable run of results and their semi-final win against TNS wasn't really a surprise to me."
Cwmbran's 3-0 semi-final second-leg win over Carmarthen ensured their path to a final showdown with Caersws at Aberystwyth on Monday (2.30pm).
Cwmbran were looking good for a league, Welsh Cup and League Cup treble two months ago - but a dramatic loss of form wiped them out of the title race and they were humbled by First Division Ton Pentre in the Welsh Cup.
Now Willcox's attentions turn to this League Cup finale against a Caersws side who have lost only four of their last 21 games.
"I have never won the League Cup so it'll be nice to do so," said Willcox. "It's a chance to end the season with some silverware.
"It's not the most-highly thought of competition, I know, but it will still be good to win it so we can build on that for next season."
Cwmbran are without Craig Hughes, striker Mattie Davies and playmaker Anthony Wright, so Chris Watkins and Sean Mainwaring are set to start up front.
Caersws won the League Cup last season, beating Barry Town 2-1, and were runners-up to Afan Lido in 1993, losing on penalties.
