NEWPORT County aim to finish their Dr Martens League Premier Division season in style with victory over Chelmsford in their final league game tomorrow, writes Paul Tully.

County want to finish in fifth spot, their highest league placing, and to do that they must beat the league's 14th-placed team at Newport Stadium (3pm).

They have every chance because only bottom club Salisbury have conceded more goals this season, so the fans could be in for the treat Harris is hoping for.

"If we win, the rest takes care of itself," said Harris. "Fifth spot is our aim and in addition we would like to keep our six or seven game unbeaten run going. "It would be nice to go out in style in front of our own fans who have been magnificent this season."

Overall, Harris' assessment of the campaign is: "It has not been a bad one. "We had an excellent FA Cup run and a good run in the Premier Cup, but our league form has been inconsistent and we had hoped to be challenging for promotion.

"But we have shown in our last six or seven games, despite all our injuries, how well we can perform and we can take that into next season when, with a few signings, we hope to be pressing for promotion."

A calf strain picked up in the 2-0 home win over Havant almost certainly rules Billy Clark out of tomorrow's game.

Nathan Davies is unlikely to be risked with his ankle problem ahead of his possible selection for the Wales non-league team.

Darren Ryan has now fully recovered from a back injury while Steve Benton is included in the squad even though he needs a cartilage operation in the summer and is unlikely to take a part.

County squad: P Mountain, D Robison, J Eckhardt, A Thomas, S Benton, S Walker, M Rose, M Fowler, A Stevenson, S Cowe, L Phillips, M Paul, S James, D Ryan, N Davies, R Edwards.
