BEHIND the Velvet Curtain is the second play about an amateur theatre group to be featured on this page in the last month.
First came Frank Vickery's Trivial Pursuits at Cardiff's Sherman and now it's Cwmbran troupe We Are What We Are with their 'play about a play'.
What distinguishes this play from Trivial Pursuits is that it is written and performed by an amateur group, which promises an attention to detail that may be too painful for some.
Written by Argus employee Andre Spring, Behind The Velvet Curtain can be seen at the Dolman Theatre in Newport from Thursday through to Saturday.
Andre said: "We are a musical theatre group based in Cwmbran.
"I wrote this play, which is a humorous look at amateur theatre, because I had seen so much after performing in local theatres over the past few years, and wanted to share that with the audience."
