BLUES fans from across the UK are regularly being drawn to Abertillery Community Theatre for an evening of musical entertainment. This continues the season with more high- profile music performances.
The Groundhogs kick off the summer season on Friday, May 10. The band gained recognition through backing John Lee Hooker on his British tours through the 60s. Through the early 70s the band produced massively selling albums, including Thank Christ For The Bomb, Split and Who Will Save The World.
Tickets cost £9 and this particular performance will feature cabaret-style seating. There is also blues music from the Guitar Brothers on Thursday, May 30. Tickets cost 12.50 each, and, as with all the music events this season, the bar opens at 7pm for an 8pm start.
Geno Washington is also out on the road this summer with his band The Purple Aces, performing his brand- new blues and R&B show.
As well as the classics, while on the road they will be performing some tracks from their latest album on Thunderbird Records, Change Your Thoughts You Change Your Life. Geno stops off at Abertillery Community Theatre on Friday, June 21, at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 each.
