GRAND Prix golden boy Carl Stonehewer brings his Workington Comets to Newport this Sunday for a mouth-watering Premier League clash.
Stonehewer, a regular on Sky Sports' coverage of the sport throughout the summer, launches his bid for world title glory in Norway next month.
But before then he is hoping to see off a fired-up Wasps side who are fresh from a big win over Arena Essex last weekend.
It's a busy weekend as Newport make the long journey to Workington on Saturday before returning to Hayley Stadium for a 2.30pm start on Sunday. Wasps chief Tim Stone said: "They have a certain Les Collins in their side and he is a class act and when you add Peter Karlsson to the one and only Carl Stonehewer then Workington do have a very powerful top three.
"Rusty Harrison is bubbling under the surface so this wekeend won't be an easy task for us, but we're not going all the way up there on Saturday night to sit back and lose, we're going there to win.
"I feel we're capable of putting on a good show up there, we have riders who are very capable of doing well on the Workington track.
"Then we're back at Newport the following afternoon and it's a demanding schedule because it's a six-hour run from Workington to Newport.
"But we've done it before, hopefully the riders will get plenty of sleep on Saturday night and arrive at Hayley Stadium refreshed and ready to go against Workington. "Workington doesn't hold any fears for us and then it would be nice to pick up the aggregate bonus point in the home meeting on Sunday.
"But I have to say initially I'm going for all five points and that's what I'll be telling the riders."
SUNDAY'S TEAMS: NEWPORT: Craig Watson, Frank Smart, Ben Howe (If fit), Scott Smith, Lee Dicken, Barrie Evans, Carl Wilkinson. WORKINGTON: Carl Stonehewer, Les Collins, Peter Karlsson, Rusty Harrison, James Mann, Scott James, Tom Brown.
