THE time will be up tomorrow for Ringland's clock tower, which is coming down as part of a £300,000 facelift for the area.
As revealed in the Argus in January, Ringland Shopping Centre, Newport, is one of the first projects to receive money from Wales' £76 million Objective Two European funding programme.
Around £300,000 will be spent regenerating the centre and improving the quality of life for residents over the next three months - and it is the largest amount of cash dedicated to such a Newport project to date.
About half the money was made available from the Objective Two programme, with matched funding from Newport council.
The cash injection means the end for one of the area's well- known landmarks - Ringland Clock Tower - which is due to come down tomorrow as the centre's major makeover continues. The clock tower is expected to be removed by crane at around 10am.
