A ROMANTIC, nautical tale with tangled plot, the story unravels with conspiracy and some amusement.
What promises to delight, however, with HMS Pinafore, is the music and singing provided by this theatrical entertainment.
To be performed from the first of May by the Lyric Musical Society the production is being staged at the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran.
This company of talented actors and singers returns to the Congress following previous successful appearances in Gilbert and Sullivan shows, Iolanthe and The Mikado. The Lyric is fortunate to have gathered together a powerful singing cast with principals rich in quality and character.
Once again (remember The Mikado) the excellent singing talents of Bristol soprano, Lyndsey Kidd (Josephine) and Cardiff tenor Iestyn Morris (Ralph) will combine to produce a special musical blend.
These two main characters are well supported by soprano Melanie Kersey (Buttercup), contralto Gail Strange (Hebe), baritones John Sadler (Captain Corcoron), Simon Copley (Sir Joseph Porter) and bass Barrett Homewood (Dick Deadeye) who along with Noel Meredith (Boatswain) provide comical and amusing input.
With the accompanying chorus this staged company has the ability to provide a stirring musical sound, both powerful and memorable for those who experience the event. Don't miss it!
