Newport outside half Shane Howarth's Wales eligibility is back on the agenda as the Welsh Rugby Union set a date of Sunday, May 26, for their extraordinary meeting to decide the future structure of Welsh rugby.
The WRU have formed yet another committee to look at both the Sir Tasker Watkins working-party report recommending a radical shake-up in the game and their own less radical solutions.
It is hoped the eight-man committee can recommend a compromise solution ahead of the May meeting described by WRU secretary Denis Gethin as "our most important meeting since the governing body was formed in 1881".
The reason why the EGM is being held so late is the requirement to give clubs 21 days notice and to ensure a legally watertight agenda.
Meanwhile Steve Hansen has asked the Union to check on Howarth's eligibility, suggesting the NZ-born back is still in line for a Wales recall if new IRB regulations, which now prevent a player from representing two countries, allow.
