STUDENT Robert Howse triumphed in the care hair challenge set by St David's Foundation - and won himself a job.
Competitors had to create the most innovative hairstyle in the charity's corporate colours of gold with shades of pink and burgundy.
Nash College's hair and beauty department, Cutting Crew in Abergavenny and Bradley's of Monmouth all rose to the challenge.
Judge Simon Constantinou, of Constantinou Brothers, Cardiff, chose Leah Mort, from Nash College.
Her hairstyle was created by Robert Howse who, as a result, was offered a job at Headlines salon in Caldicot.
The National Hairdressing Federation sponsored two trophies. Nash College was awarded the challenge trophy while Cutting Crew won the trophy for most sponsorship raised.
St David's Foundation thanked those who helped raise funds and the sponsors for their generosity.
The organisation provides specialist hospice-at-home care, free of charge, to people with cancer and other life threatening illnesses, providing support for the whole family.
Anyone who would like to help with fund-raising or wants to know more about the foundation, can contact St David's Foundation Hospice Care, Cambrian House, St John's Road, Newport. Telephone 01633 271364.
