NEWPORT Wasps have the chamce to complete two doubles in just under 48 hours as they take on Somerset and Exeter this weekend, writes Ryland James.

The Wasps face Somerset Rebels away tomorrow night as they bid to capitalise on last Sunday's Premier Trophy 47-43 win at Hayley Stadium, while on Sunday they face Exeter at home.

Newport pulled off a stunning 48-42 away win at Exeter as their top guns Frank Smart, Craig Watson and guest Seemond Stephens blasted their way round the Exeter track.

If Newport pull off the double win they will virtually guarantee qualification for the Premier Trophy semi-finals and give themselves a tremendous boost to the start of the Premier League season just a fortnight away.

Somerset Rebels co-promoter Laurence Rogers is urging fans to get there early tomorrow night for the 7.30pm start in what will be a local derby.

He said: "Having created a new club attendance in the meeting against Swindon a fortnight ago of just over 2,200, the visit of Wasps could well break this, so get there early."

Newport include guest rider Chris Neath for the injured Ben Howe and his seven plus two bonus points on Sunday helped Newport win.

Newport promoter Tim Stone is taking nothing for granted. He said: "We had to come back against Somerset and I think at their place it'll be even tougher for us. The fact they include ex-Newport riders Lawrence Hare and Bobby Eldridge makes them strong and powerful at Hayley Stadium."

Somerset Rebels: M Jirout, D Meldrum, G Cunningham, S Bishop, N Collins, G Phelps, M Holloway.

Newport Wasps: C Watson, L Dicken, C Neath, S Smith, F Smart, B Evans, C Wilkinson.
