NEWLYWEDS Peter and Francis Hunter have a lot going for them.
Peter has just been promoted to manager of a highly-respected bank and the pair have moved into a beautifully furnished flat above it.
With an intimidating district manager constantly looking over his shoulder and a prudish mother coming to stay, Peter is eager to impress.
A pity then that his wife has accidentally ordered pornographic postcards, books and videos that end up strewn across the flat.
Not surprisingly chaos ensues, and as audiences for 'No Sex Please, We're British' will find out, much hilarity ensues.
This latest Abergavenny Theatre Group offering has all the ingredients of high quality farce including the frantic efforts of Peter, Francis and poor unfortunate Brian - the chief cashier who bears the brunt of the couple's frustration - to keep their reputations intact and, the harder they try, the more things spiral out of control.
Throw in a bank inspector, who's come to look at the books, a police superintendent and two girls offering that extra personal service and it is not difficult to imagine that there's a great deal of cringing on behalf of Peter and Francis.
Despite the pornographic dilemmas 'No Sex Please, We're British' is good, clean family fun, full of witty one-liners and colourful characters.
"Some parts of the play are so funny it is even hard for the actors to keep a straight face," said a spokesman for Abergavenny Theatre Group.
"It really is well worth a watch and I defy anyone to go home from it without having had at least one good chuckle."
No Sex Please, We're British is directed by Judith Candler and will be performed at Abergavenny Borough Theatre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 11 to 13.
Tickets for the show cost £6 and £4 concessions. Box office on 01873 850805.
