IWAN Roberts, pictured, revealed today that he's prepared to step aside from the limelight ahead of Wales' friendly fixture against the Czech Republic in Cardiff on Wednesday.
Bangor-born Roberts, 33, who made his international debut a decade ago against Holland, while at Watford, said: "There comes a time when you have to give others a chance - when that time comes I'll say 'thanks' and hold my hands up."
But Norwich City journeyman Roberts isn't looking to hang up his boots just yet.
"As long as I keep getting selected and I can give something to the squad I'll carry on," pledged Roberts, who arrived at Carrow Road in a £850,000 switch from Wolves in 1997.
Roberts' career began at Vicarage Road, before moving to Huddersfield Town, a period where he won three caps against Austria, Argentina and Japan, before joining Leicester City in 1994.
During his spell at Filbert Street Roberts won call-ups against Sweden, Albania and Moldova, prior to switching to The Canaries.
And Roberts is hoping he has shrugged off hamstring problems, ahead of the match against the Czech Republic at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. "I had a couple of days off lately, but it feels much better now," said Roberts.
Meanwhile Roberts praised chief Mark Hughes during his time at the helm.
"Mark Hughes has been great. He has been different class," said Roberts.
Hughes looks set to stay on at Blackburn Rovers in some capacity next season. A player/coach role could be offered to Hughes, 38, this summer, having joined Rovers on a free transfer from Everton in October 2000 on an 18 months contract.
"Mark is still fit, having looked after himself during his career, playing at the highest level. He still has heaps to offer," added Roberts.
And Roberts is hoping that he can take Norwich into the division one play-off finals in May. Roberts' international teammate, Wolves striker Nathan Blake, also has his eyes set on a possible return to the Premiership. Blake said: "We've on a great run, but no team is going to win every game. No one will relax until the job is done."
Meanwhile Barnsley's Paul Barnard will miss The Tykes crucial relegation game against Watford, following his Wales call-up.
