TIM Harris' striking woes seem to be easing as 12-goal Martin Paul (pictured) is set to return for Newport County tomorrow as the Exiles hunt for their fourth away win in a row at Folkestone Invicta (3pm).
The 27-year-old former Bath City striker has been sidelined for two-and-a-half weeks with an ankle ligament problem, but with the help of intensive physiotherapy Paul has made himself available for selection for the trip to Kent.
"I had an intense training session with the club's physio and there have been no reactions," said Paul. "Whether or not I play is up to the manager."
County boss Harris will almost certainly throw Paul straight into the side as his other strikers - Garry Shephard (collarbone) and Lee Phillips (hamstring) - are injured.
Harris was forced to put centre-back Jeff Eckhardt and midfielder Matt Rose up-front in their 2-1 league win at struggling Cambridge City on Tuesday - and the Newport manager won't want to visit Cheriton Road without a recognised striker in his ranks.
"Having Martin - and a recognised striker - back in the side is a massive boost," said Harris. "He has responded well to treatment and has a very good chance of playing." Invicta are ninth in the Dr Martens Premier League, three points better off than County who are a place below with two games in hand.
Even though there are only 11 games left, this is the first time County have faced Folkestone as the return fixture at Newport Stadium is on April 15. "Folkestone have done pretty well this season," said Harris. "They have stayed in mid-table most of the campaign. But we are hitting a bit of form so we are pretty confident."
Midfielder Nathan Davies (knee) is doubtful while Stuart James (knee) is out. Newport County (from): Mountain, Benton, Robison, Thomas, Clark, Eckhardt, Cowe, Walker, Rose, Ryan, Davies, Paul, Fowler, Plant, Edwards.
