NEWPORT Wasps take on Swindon Robins at their Abbey Stadium circuit tomorrow night (7:30pm) in the Premier Trophy with a few familiar faces in the oppositions ranks.
Both Paul Fry and Chris Neath are former Wasps, especially Neath who rode for the Hayley Stadium outfit last season despite breaking his ankle in Australia last winter, which will spice up the meeting.
Wasps made a winning start to the season with a 58-32 win at home to Reading and they will be looking to catch the Swindon Robins cold in what will be their first outing of the season.
A big question mark still hangs over their number one Charlie Gjedde who suffered ligament damage playing football back home in Denmark - and a decision is due to be made later today, but Richie Hawkins is definitely fit to ride.
Hawkins suffered a shoulder injury racing in Australia for the Great Britain Under-21s in the same team as Newport's Carl Wilkinson and although he is fit to ride, he is still not 100 percent.
"Mine was a complex shoulder injury", said Hawkins. "The dislocation took place where the collar-bone joins the shoulder and tore ligaments in the process.
"I stayed on with the boys in Australia, because I was always likely to heal up more quickly in the sunshine and I was receiving extremely good physiotherapy, but I'm not 100 percent fit."
Newport's Frank Smart (pictured) will also be well-known to the Swindon crowd having ridden for them in the 2000 season and the Australian had a surprise of his own last Saturday.
Newport: Craig Watson, Frank Smart, Ben Howe, Scott Smith, Lee Dicken, Barrie Evans, Carl Wilkinson.
Swindon: Charlie Gjedde, Paul Fry, Oliver Allen, Chris Neath, Paul Lee, Ritchie Hawkins, Jason King.
