MATTHEW Pizey plays his first game at full back for Bedwas tonight as they face Cross Keys at the Bridge Field.
Pizey is a speedy Bedwas wing and would normally have come up against brother James, a promising Cross Keys scrum half also forced to play at full back for his club several times this season.
But James pulled a muscle in his arm against Pontypool on Saturday and is out for three weeks. That leaves the way clear for the return of Chad Bushell, out of the Keys line-up since January 10 because of police training.
Bedwas' influential captain and flanker Matthew Lewis returns for the game, but his side are without a number of other players.
Second row Anthony Evans is on holiday, Paul Williams is away on Sevens duty with Neath College, No 8 Deri Mattravers has a rib injury while Lee Griffiths is working. Keys are desperately in need of a victory to ease their relegation worries.
Bedwas: M Pizey, S Sankala, J Welch, A Harrison, M Belinki, G Samuels, S Jones, R Bilton, L Tomlins, M Wilson, I Phillips, R Edwards, Hywel Davies, M Lewis, Huw Davies. Reps: J Tilley, P McGhee, J Salter, J Hughes, C Hill, W Bray, R Jones.
Cross Keys: C Bushell, N McKim, S Reed, R Davies, G Davies, G Worgan, N Hope, I Evans, L Gardner, D Crimmins, C Penny, M Veater, D Gibbs, D Staveley, A Gibbs. Reps: M Jones, G Stroud, F Vunipola, P Watkins, M Wood, M McCarthy, M Lovell, D Price. l Newbridge are without prop Phil Taylor, on a 10-day tour of Hong Kong with the British Police side, for their home match with Llanharan tonight.
Matthew Price replaces him in the front row with Mike Spencer returning to the bench. Newbridge's aim is to win their remaining games to keep pressure on First Division leaders Aberavon and second-placed Pontypool.
Newbridge should have too many guns for a Llanharan outfit who have lost five of their last seven games and who have little incentive as they are in the mid-table comfort zone. Newbridge: H Lock, P Collett, G Turner, S Webley, Jonathan Williams, Jason Williams, M Taylor, A Oliver, D Williams, M Price, C Blunsdon, A Edwards, J Bowd, M Ackerman, G Gladwyn. Replacements: M Sage, A Green, M Spencer, L Davies, J Ford, S Greedy, G Howells. Kick-off 7.15pm.
