NEWPORT will decide at the end of the week whether to formally request a Welsh Rugby Union inquiry into racist abuse suffered by scrum half Ofisah Tonu'u in the Principality Cup clash with Bonymaen.
Newport have still to complete an internal investigation and club owner Tony Brown is away for a few days.
Newport team manager Jim McCreedy said: "A final decision won't be made until he returns."
The WRU say they are ready to investigate the affair, but need Newport to follow up their verbal request with a written one.
Brown has said Newport fully support Tonu'u and will take his wishes into account when deciding their course of action.
Meanwhile Bonymaen prop Nigel Evans, the player who made the racist remarks, played for his club on Saturday after missing just one league game.
Evans was banned for two weeks by Bonymaen after the cup incident, a lenient punishment condemned by many, including Brown.
In that time he has missed just the Welsh First Division defeat by Carmarthen Quins and a local Tovali Cup game.
Newport take on First Division Blackwood at Rodney Parade in a friendly tomorrow night (7.30pm).
