FILM fans will probably have heard of Hollywood's Coen or Farrelly Brothers - but they may soon be hearing big things of Gwent's Thomas Brothers.
The Newport siblings, Michael and Nick, pictured, have just launched their own company called Spearhead Films, and are aiming to put the Newport and Welsh film industry on the map.
"Wales is used a lot by film makers, but you do not hear a lot about it," said Michael Thomas, the oldest of the brothers at 26.
"Our first film, which we are working on at the moment and hope to have finished by the end of March, is called Full Clip, and is kind of a Newport version of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
"We have had to get permission from Newport council to organise a shoot-out scene and will have to have a policeman present, which will cost us £41 an hour.
"After that is finished we will start work on a major feature depicting a British unit in the Bosnian war, which we hope to film in the Brecon Beacons.
It is planned to be somewhere between the films Behind Enemy Lines and Deliverance." The brothers, who live in Clement Atlee Drive, Newport, have their own website - www.spearheadfilms.com - where anyone interested can find out more about their projects.
At the weekend, the brothers, who are both students, were filming more scenes from Full Clip at a disused office block in Pontypool.
"We have been getting some interest from the Internet, with some people asking if they can read our scripts, but it is hard trying to make a film when people are doing everything for free.
"We are both very obsessive about making films, and hopefully if people can see how serious we are about this, they may get in touch."
