POLICE are appealing to anyone who has been offered a distinctive diamond ring, identical to the one pictured, to contact them.
The ring, worth £1,000, has a gold band and three diamonds.
It was stolen from a Newport shop assistant, who was wearing the ring, while she was at work on January 4.
PC Richard Davies, pictured, of Newport Central police station, said the 19-year-old woman was approached by a man who asked if he could see the ring.
The man, who is said to be in his late 20s and of skinny build with dark bushy, curly hair, grabbed the ring before running from the shop into the city centre.
PC Davies appealed for anyone who has been offered such a ring for sale, at a pub or in a car boot sale, or in "shady circumstances," to contact him on 01633 244999.
