PUPILS from a Newport primary school, pictured, entertained AMs with their dancing skills as part of the Assembly's celebration of Commonwealth Day.
A Welsh folk dance and an Indian stick dance were performed as a celebration of the cultural diversity in modern Wales.
Eighteen pupils from Pill Primary School, together with head teacher Joan Todd and support teacher Alyson Hall attended.
Mrs Todd said: "We were delighted to be invited to visit the National Assembly to celebrate Commonwealth Day.
"At Pillgwenlly Primary School we aim to raise awareness of, and to celebrate, cultural diversity. At the same time we have pride in being part of Wales and of Welsh culture."
Ms Hall, who works for the Gwent Education Multi-ethnic Support Service (GEMSS) specialising in teaching English as an additional language, said the pupils had thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the attention. "They think they're celebrities now," she added.
Newport West AM Rosemary Butler was delighted to welcome her junior constituents.
Members were so impressed by the strength of the performance that the dancers have been invited to perform again at the Assembly during the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association's Conference in April from April 8-13.
