NEWPORT County are set to sign former Crystal Palace midfielder Michael Fowler on a free transfer from Nationwide Conference strugglers Woking, writes Peter Shuttleworth. The 20-year-old ex-Welsh under-18 international is expected to sign for Tim Harris' men when they train at Treforest tonight.
Fowler, who had five seasons at Palace and made a handful of first-team appearances at Selhurst Park, will be in County's squad for their Dr Martens Premier League home clash against Worcester City on Saturday (3pm).
Cardiff-born Fowler said: "I was impressed with the County set-up and am just looking forward to showing what I can do on the football field."
Exiles boss Harris said: "He's a quality passer of the ball with excellent vision. He has a very professional attitude and I'm delighted I have got him."
