NEWPORT has won city status and here is the reaction from our teams.
Rugby supremo Tony Brown (pictured) said: "It's tremendous news. I'm absolutely delighted. It's a credit to Newport and is long overdue in my opinion.It's recognition of the status Newport deserves and all credit must go to Ben Hoppe and his Newport city campaign team."
Tim Stone, Newport Speedway owner, said: "It's excellent news. I applied last year for a certificate to bring international racing to Newport and this won't do that bid any harm." And Newport County chairman Wallace Brown said: "It is absolutely tremendous news and a magnificent boost for Newport."
