THE Welsh Rugby Union are likely to decide at their disciplinary committee meeting next week how to proceed with their inquiry into the Ofisa Tonu'u affair.
The Newport scrum half was racially abused by Bonymaen prop Nigel Evans in their recent Principality Cup clash.
At first the WRU were happy to leave the matter in the hands of the clubs.
But after the Argus exclusively revealed Evans had been banned for just two weeks by his club and that Tonu'u was unhappy with this, they did a U-turn and ordered an investigation.
That is likely to start on Wednesday with the possibility Evans could be charged with bringing the game into disrepute or a general inquiry ordered.
The WRU will then need to interview both players, other players involved in the match as well as club and match officials.
This could take a few weeks with a decision unlikely before April.
The WRU have unlimited disciplinary powers to act against a player or club with fines, reprimands, censure and bans at their disposal.
Meanwhile, Wales' minister for culture and sport, Jenny Randerson, is expected to make a statement on the matter to the National Assembly on Tuesday.
