Whiteheads kept up the pressure with a 4-2 win over Machen Athletic with two goals apiece from Steve Sully and Simon Jones.
Saunders Valve are still looking for their first win after losing 5-2 to Phil Hibs, Anthony Szymanski and Doug Parker scoring their goals.
In the Premier Y Division, Pill AFC went top after a 3-3 draw with Croesyceiliog. Spencer's closed on the leaders with a 2-0 win over Corinthians, Neil Bray and James Collins scoring. Rogerstone defeated West Pontnewydd 4-1.
In Division One leaders Barretts won 8-1 against Fox and Hounds with Leigh Sims scoring six goals.
Cwmbran Workmen defeated Southville 4-2 with Mike Crowley (2), Lee Herbert and Rob Eckley scoring.
Bettws Social defeated Shaftesbury 3-1 with Chris Knight, David Tiley and Gary Laws netting. Jason Lallies scored for Shaftesbury.
In Division 1R Pontymister defeated Maesglas 2-1 and Pill Hibs won 9-1 against Rogerstone. Corinthians defeated Cromwell 4-3 with T Gibbs (2) and G Atwick scoring for Cromwell.
In Division Two Mosco defeated Shaftesbury 3-0 with C Jordan (2) and R Doody scoring. Merry Miller won 7-1 against Barretts (Nicky Jones 5).
Division Three leaders Risca Athletic won 9-1 against Excelsior. Dynamo moved off the bottom with a 9-1 win over Machen. Pill AFC defeated Leisure Lions 4-0 and Mill Tavern won 7-1 against County Motors.
In Sunday 1 Mosco defeated leaders Civil Service 3-2 with two goals from C Jordan and another from C Leonard. Real Bettws beat TRW 5-4. In the Sunday 2, Baneswell moved closer to leaders Fairwater with a 7-2 win over Six in Hand.
