FORGET Pop Idol - two Gwent children are bidding to be Energy Idols in a nationwide competition.
They are among the 100 finalists chasing places in the final ten to star in the new British Gas national television campaign.
Gethin Compton, seven, from Blaenavon and Hannah Dale, nine, from Abergavenny, were chosen from 1,000 entrants.
Should they win they will tell the nation their ideas about energy efficiency in one of a series of mini-features to be screened on ITV1 in the summer.
The British Gas competition wanted entrants to send in their top three tips to save energy and Gethin and Hannah's caught the eye of the judges. Hannah said: "I can't believe it."
Gethin's tips are to insulate homes, turn off the light when its sunny and close windows to keep in heat, while Hannah's are to use a washing line not a tumble dryer, candles for lighting and a microwave instead of a cooker.
