THREE of Pontypool and Panteg's amateur boxers have been called up for the Welsh schoolboy international training squad which takes place at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
They are current Welsh schoolboy champion Gavin Rogers, 12, and current Welsh boys' club champion Rudy Edwards, 12, and his cousin Ashley Edwards, 13.
All three boys have already attended one squad and they are back in the squad which takes place on January 3 and 4, 2002.
Meanwhile, their gym mate Tony Doherty, 18, travelled with the Welsh senior team to Norway last week and easily won his bout against the champion of Norway giving his opponent three counts on the way to an easy points win and Doherty was also awarded the best boxer award
