Newport County will not be taking disciplinary action against any of their players or officials involved in a mass brawl against King's Lynn at Newport Stadium on Saturday.
But whether the club or invividuals escape any punishment depends on referee Russell Green's report to the Football Association.
The brawl, in a Dr Martens League match which County won 2-1, involved all the players, substitutes and management from both sides.
It apparently began with Newport player Steve Benton being kicked in the head as he was lying on the ground.
The result was that King's Lynn players Craig Clark and Jamie Clarke were sent off (the club also had three other players booked in the game), but no Newport players or officials were punished.
Newport County chairman Wallace Brown said today: "The referee sent two King's Lynn players off and booked three others. None of our players had any disciplinary action taken against them. That tells the story.
"It started with one of our players being kicked in the head.
"I don't see any reason to place blame on any of our players."
Newport manager Tim Harris said after the game: "The incident was a disgrace. Their number 11 (Jamie Clarke) had to go. He went right through Benton.
"One of the two players sent-off even kicked Steve Benton. They lost their discipline big time and that lost them the game - I was just glad our players kept their heads and didn't get involved too much.
"The referee was spot on. He handled the situation well."
King's Lynn boss Tony Spearing agreed, saying: "It was just ill-discipline on our part. It wasn't even a bad tackle that triggered things, it was a nothing incident and it just erupted.
"I cannot argue with the sendings-off, they both had to go. We will not be appealing against them.
"There were a load of people throwing punches. Once it kicked off everyone seemed to be in there
"I'm not too aggrieved none of Newport's players were sent off because you can only go on what the linesman saw.
"There were that many bodies in there you could not tell, so you can only go on the official's word."
County's goals came from striker Garry Shephard in the third minute and from a Martin Paul penalty in the last minute. Danny Bloomfield replied after a blunder by Benton. "It was a great result for us. Forget the performance, the result is what counts," said Harris.
"We have to set ourselves little targets on where we need to be at each stage of the season and achieve them. We needed that win, now we must build on it."
Our picture shows Newport County's Alfie Carter showing his anger as he's brought down by a King's Lynn defender inside the box. This earned the home side a penalty which Gary Shephard missed.
