EBBW Vale are waiting for the outcome of a scan on injured scrum half Gareth Betts, who may be ruled out for the rest of the season, writes Ryland James.
Betts was carried off at Swansea on Saturday after injuring his left knee and the initial diagnosis was he had damaged his cruciate ligaments.
Coach Mike Ruddock described the injury as a 'body blow.' "I've spoken to Gareth and he's putting a brave face on things, but he's gutted," he said.
"I have told him to keep his chin up. Scott Gibbs and Tim Horan have come back from serious knee injuries."
Betts joins a growing list of injuries, lock Peter Sidoli and flanker Gareth Green both out with knee problems.
But incredibly, centre Tim Bagg is expected to resume training in four weeks after suffering a serious foot injury in Vale's defeat at Montauban.
Ebbw face Neath at home on Saturday night and David Weatherley is battling to be fit from a leg injury.
