Newport County turn their attentions to another cup competition with their match at Walton and Hersham today (3pm).
The Umbro FA Trophy doesn't have all the glamour of the FA Cup and there is no chance of fairytale clashes with Nationwide League clubs like Blackpool.
But County would still like to go as far as they can and today travel to South-West London for a clash with Ryman League Division One side Walton and Hersham.
Left-back Steve Benton (pictured) the rest of the team and manager Tim Harris know the Trophy is part of their bread and butter.
"All the players and staff knew that we had no chance of winning the FA Cup," said 26-year-old Benton.
"The FA Cup run was amazing for everyone involved with Newport County and it is sad that it has ended. But now that we are out, I think that this is the critical point of our season.
"It is how we react. Admittedly, playing in the FA Trophy is a bit of a come down for all the players, but it is our bread and butter.
"We have a chance of going all the way in the Trophy, especially if all the players show the same passion, commitment and hard work as they did in the two FA Cup games against Blackpool and the two against Conference team Woking (in the fourth qualifying round).
"For big games like Blackpool, players don't need any motivation. It was such a big match that everyone was fired up and raring to go.
"And it is how we perform mentally as well as physically that will be the key in both this FA Trophy run and in the league. We must win the physiological battles every week. If we do that we should have no problems at all."
Benton, who scored at the wrong end against Blackpool in the FA Cup first round replay at Newport Stadium on Wednesday night, said: " I've just got to get my head down and get on with the job in hand. I have been happy with my performances of late and I am my biggest critic, apart from my mum Tina."
County are likely to be without defender/midfielder Jason Perry (ankle) for today's game. Striker Garry Shephard (ankle) and goalkeeper Pat Mountain (knee) are also doubtful. Midfielder Matt Rose is suspended.
David Hando, the man who helped re-form Newport County in 1989, has been made honorary president by the club's board of directors.
