GOALS from Chris Watkins and Sean Mainwaring earned Cwmbran sweat revenge at a fog-bound Richmond Park on Friday night.

Manager Tony Willcox's (pictured right) men went into the game having twice suffered FAW premier Cup defeats at the hands of Carmarthen.

However Cwmbran's poor disciplinary record surfaced yet again when winger Nathan Cotterrall was sent off for picking two second-half cautions, the dismissal came less than two weeks after the Gwent outfit had three players red carded at the same venue.

Cwmbran got off to just the start they had prayed for, although a glancing header Dean Rossiter could have put Carmarthen ahead as early as the fifth minute.

But just 90 seconds later Watkins was tugged back in the penalty box by home skipper David Barnhouse who was cautioned for disputing the decision.

Watkins strode forward to beat goalkeeper Robert Fitzgerald from the spot for his fifth goal of the season however by the time the interval arrived Cwmbran could have well been at least 3-1 adrift.

First Ryan Nicholls fired high over when well placed before Chris Miller beat goalkeeper Pat O O'hagan only to see the ball sail inches past the post. And O'Hagan had to be at his best moments later to palm away a 30 yard pile-driver from Rossiter.

Toward the end of the first period the striker Craig Hughes tested Fitzgerald before a Watkins shot was deflected for a corner by former Crows defender Neil O'Brien. Cwmbran's goal came under intense pressure after the break with O'Hagan making fine saves to deny Craig Evans and Miller while a Lee Jones cross-shot skimmed the crossbar.

Cotterrall picked up his first yellow for a foul and just three minutes later he saw red after kicking the ball away after the whistle had gone.

However Cwmbran defied the odds by going 2-0 up when Mainwaring ended a fine solo run by firing past Fitzgerald from 12 yards.

Rossiter reduced the deficit following a chaotic goal mouth scramble but Cwmbarn held on for a sixth win in eight league starts.
