A MAGICAL treat is in store for Harry Potter fans at Abergavenny's The Hill centre. Specialist weekend and one-day courses, for both adults and children, are being held at the Coleg Gwent campus.
Discovering Harry Potter weekends, which take place in February, April and October, include a full programme of activities such as a tour of film locations in and around Gloucester, a visit to an owl sanctuary, quizzes and games and plenty of surprises. A one-day course will be run on February 20 with other dates to follow.
Linda Swanson, assistant general manager at the Hill, said that the historic manor house was an ideal venue for the courses.
"It is not exactly Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry but it is a magical location, rich in history with impressive surroundings."
Harry Potter will be able to find out more about the characters and the author JK Rowling, who was educated in Monmouthshire.
There is also a connection with Abergavenny, which is mentioned in The Prisoner of Azkaban, the third book in the Harry Potter series.
"This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is a Harry Potter fan to meet with others who share their interest and enthusiasm" said Linda.
"It is a chance to treat the younger members of your family or yourself to a weekend with a difference and discover more about Harry Potter."
For further information about the courses telephone 01495 333777. l This Sunday one of the cast of the hit movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone will be at the Sci-Fi, Comic and Film Collectors Fair at The Angel Hotel, Westgate Street, Cardiff.
Warwick Davies plays the charms master Professor Flitwick as well as head goblin at Gringott's Bank.
Warwick, who also appeared in Return of the Jedi, Willow and Sky 1 series The 10th Kingdom, will be signing autographs, meeting fans and answering questions. Admission to the fair, which runs from midday to 4.30pm, is £1 for adults and 50 pence for children.
